Mary-Kate and Ashley may be the official twins of the Olsen family, but baby sis Elizabeth just got to experience a twinning moment of her own when she showed up to the premiere of Ingrid Goes West Thursday night in the exact same outfit as co-star Aubrey Plaza, right down to their sparkle-accent heels.
Lest you think this was a stylist’s worst nightmare, however, you should probably know that the pair were actually paying homage to their characters in the flick, which sees an overzealous Instagram fan (Plaza) stalking her favorite social media star (Olsen).
The ensemble in question was a long-sleeve Marc Jacobs mini with circle embroidery, a pair of black Sophia Webster heels, and Anita Ko jewels, with the only (subtle) difference being the color of the frock’s embroidery: Plaza wore gold while Olsen went for silver.
The gals were all too happy to pose for goofy pics, holding each other prom style and sandwiching their co-stars like matching bookends.
Olsen, for one, who’s no stranger to a red carpet malfunction, was delighted with the result, writing, “A couple that dresses together, stays together,” over on Instagram, which she says she recently joined to broaden her branding opportunities.
Plaza seemed no less thrilled with their fashion rebellion, writing, “Still can’t believe we wore the same thing! Guess this means we should be best friend twinsies forever. (Obvs).”
