Emma Roberts’ Oscar Gown Helps the Planet
It’s 2017 and celebs are not here to be bystanders of social activism, honey. Between gowns that help bring clean water to people in need to full press tour wardrobes (and Instagrams) devoted to eco-friendly fashion, it is now officially hot in Hollywood to help social change. In a trend we’re unofficially dubbing “Emma’s Gone Green,” Emma Roberts joins Emma Watson in a bid to show the sustainable side of style by walking the Oscars Red Carpet in a vintage Armani Privé gown.
Taking Suzy Amis Cameron’s “Red Carpet Green Dress Challenge” this year, Roberts essentially showed how recycling can apply to the red carpet by selecting a gown from the Armani archives. Since the fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to pollution, this campaign — and Emma — are helping to conserve resources and our planet by aiming to not add more waste. Now going into its eighth year, the RCGD campaign sets the challenge for designers to create a red-carpet-worthy dress (and now tuxedo) out of environmentally and socially responsible fabrics. By calling out the campaign and (literally) walking the sustainable walk on the red carpet, Emma’s doing her part. Yes, (scream) queen.
