Here’s the Exact Shade of Emma Stone’s Brick-Red Lipstick for the Oscars
Emma Stone had a very good night last night, and we’re not just talking about the fact that she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in La La Land. Stone blew us away on the Oscars red carpet in a fringe-skirted custom Givenchy dress and a brick-red lip that was equal parts modern and classic Hollywood.
When coming up with the beauty look, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin was inspired by Gabriel Rosetti, a 19th-century painter who always painted redheads.
“Emma’s rocked every red in the book, but this lipstick has a brown base that gives it a ’90s feel, which is something we’ve never really done before,” she told Teen Vogue. “Emma’s very fair. We didn’t want her to fade into the background on such a big night. We wanted to look back at it years from now and still feel the impact.”
The makeup artist used Nars Audacious Lipstick ($34) in Mona, a brick-red shade that gives maximum impact. “Emma’s category comes up late in the night, so I wanted to make sure the color could last,” she told The Cut. “I applied Nars lipstick, blotted, applied more lipstick, and layered that with powder, and then applied a final layer of lipstick.”
Good choice, Rachel!
