Emma Watson Says *This* Harry Potter Outtake Is Personally “Traumatic”
Emma Watson may be all grown up playing beloved (and surprisingly complex/possibly controversial) roles like Beauty and the Beast’s Belle, but back in the day, we were all introduced to her as young Hermione Granger. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, the host showed the A-list actress an outtake of her very first professional role. Unexpectedly, the clip turned out to be (adorably) traumatic for the star.
Cast in the Harry Potter films when she was just nine years old, Watson admits that she was desperate to do well. Not only learning her lines word for word, she also learned everyone else’s lines… as this rediscovered clip proves, showing the young actress mouthing along to her co-stars’ lines.
“This is actually quite traumatic for me,” Watson revealed. “I created issues because of this. I would ruin takes. Chris [the director] would be like, ‘Cut! Emma, you’re doing it again. You’re mouthing Dan’s lines.’ And I’d be like, “Oh! I’m so sorry! I feel so bad!’ But I couldn’t help myself.” She added, “I was such a loser. I really love those books. I really wanted to do my job well, and I kind of overdid it.”
No worries, Emma, that little snafu did nothing to hinder your future career. We can certainly guarantee that.
