Look up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… an emoji! And the plump little helicopter icon is just the start of a city-wide redesign with the iMessage icons, courtesy of artist John Stoughton.
While we’ve been busy sending clapping hands and kiss faces in our texts, Stoughton’s put the unusually thorough throng of high-rise icons and transportation symbols to use (somebody had to) by inserting them into the landscape of cities around the world. As a part of the upcoming Back-2-School Emoji Show, Stoughton turns some of the most iconic destinations into quirky toon towns.
Our favorite parts of the series are when Stoughton gives landmarks the emoji treatment, including the now color blocked Eiffel Tower and the Great Pyramids, swapped with red triangles of epic proportions. We’ll put in our request now for these cheeky images to be turned into “Wish You Were Here” postcards [insert plane and sunset]. WE might be down to be the first SF vendor ;)
