Barbie is Posed to “Lean In” With Her Latest Career Move
Barbie may have taken some heat for posing for that Sports Illustrated cover last week, but she’s back and raising her feminist rally cry once again, with tablet in hand and news that might make you want to bring her back around the kids. The plastic pioneer just unveiled her latest career move at Toy Fair 2014 in New York City, and it’s one we know a thing or two about: entrepreneur.
Barbz has held down over 150 different careers in her 55 years, and struts onto the startup scene in 2014 with a ready-for-business blowout, a power lunch pink dress with color block accents and, of course, a tablet and smartphone in her bag. Which is actually a laptop case.
The latest “Career of the Year” in the I Can Be career line, Barbie Entrepreneur will be available in stores starting in June for $12.99. Mattel will celebrate her launch with a web video series featuring stories of successful female entrepreneurs in the summer as well.
What accessories will be next for Barbie Entrepreneur, we wonder… A little SXSW pass? Neon Google Glass? A job for Startup Intern Skipper? A dogeared copy of Lean In? Nah, that’s obviously already loaded up on her tablet.
What do you think of Barbie’s latest career? What industry should she take on next? We say Maker Barbie! Share your thoughts below!
