This Etsy Shop Is Making Book Lovers Everywhere Swoon
There’s nothing quite as enjoyable as relaxing on a rare day off with an awesome summer read. But true bibliophiles know that reading is more than a hobby… it’s a lifestyle. Whether you’re looking for a bookish gift for a friend or are updating your own literary decor, we’ve found the one thing your collection is missing (and it just so happens to come from the coolest Etsy shop for book lovers EVER). Book lovers, you’ve never loved wall art as much as this before.
Adopting the theory that the last lines in a novel hold the most weight, the End Quote Project by Luminous Particular is turning the last lines from famous lit into cool graphic art. With 120 titles already created — from The Sun Also Rises to The Princess Bride to Into the Wild — people across the web just can’t get enough of this awesome literary find from the creative mind of Valerie Perreault.
“[It’s] my secret,” says Valerie. “I like to read the last page of a new book before I open the front cover. I know. I can’t help it.” A guilty pleasure that started when she was just nine years old, Valerie is completely open about this literary taboo. “The closing lines of a good book are perfect poetry to me. And when the journey is over, the beast panting, I like to return to those last lines for a sort of re-sparking,” she says. We totally get how powerful closing lines can be after rereading the closing of Into the Wild.
Although her other work has been featured on HBO’s Girls and Buzzfeed, Valerie considers the End Quote Project her baby. “Money is nice, of course, but I’m always excited to see which quote [my customers] choose,” Valerie confesses. “It’s great when I get a buyer named SKULLCRUSHER109 and he orders the Little Women poster.”
