This Is the New Cool Girl Fashion Trend I Spotted All Over Europe
Oh, Europe. The land where all women somehow manage to look like they’ve just rolled out of bed and down to their local coffee shop looking like Alexa Chung in five minutes flat. How they do it, I’ll never know, but I’ll forever be envious of this magical skill. I recently came back from a lengthy trip to Europe and the Republic of Ireland, and after days on end spent gawking over all the epic street fashion, I began to notice one trend that repeated itself in every country I visited — and all it requires is a basic tee.
With summer coming to a close (sorry, I know no one wants to hear those words), those strappy slip dresses might be a little too cool for the transitioning weather. But it looks like the ladies of Europe have found a way to get more use out of their favorite summer frocks by simply slipping a t-shirt on underneath. Blame it on the revival of overalls, but this ’90s inspired look is fully alive and well abroad.

For the most part, I spotted retail store mannequins and real girls alike pairing strappy dresses with basic black or white tees, but if you want to add a little more edge to the look, pair your dress with a concert tee like UK brand River Island shows here.

Obviously, the combo is most easily paired with a daytime dress, but if you’re really looking to embrace the trend, it can also be done with an evening dress. In the photo above, Anna Claudia Heaton, a junior editor at ASOS, flawlessly manages to make a cleavage bearing dress office-appropriate by slipping a plain white tee underneath.
