Among her many attributes (Her music! Her Only Murders in the Building acting chops! Her mental health work!) Selena Gomez never misses with her makeup. Whether it's rosy spring look or autumnal birthday makeup, the Rare Beauty founder always looks uh-maze-ing, so we talked to Rare Beauty's Global Stylist Cynthia Di Meo about her best beginner makeup tips (like how to make your eyeshadow last longer — something I desperately need), plus the one hack that will change your makeup forever. Before you read up on the Rare Beauty lip oil, keep scrolling for all of Di Meo's best fall and holiday makeup tips!
How to do a graphic eyeliner look?

"Some tips I share with beginners for creating graphic eyeliner looks is to keep your eyes open and look straight into the mirror," Di Meo says. Starting with an open eye instead of a closed one will ensure you get the look you want (since you don't walk around all day with your eyes closed!).
"Start by mapping out the shape with a lighter color pencil, like a brow pencil, before going in with a darker shade," she continues. "Apply the liner and use a small cotton swab to adjust the shape, and don’t forget to breathe! Don’t stress about it being too perfect. Try to practice graphic looks at home when you’re not in a hurry."

My eyeshadow is almost always gone by the end of the night. How can I make my eyeshadow last all day?

"This can happen with oily lids or simply the way the oil on our eyelids sits and moves throughout the day," Di Meo says. "I recommend a good eye primer, like the Always an Optimist Eye Primer, and I always use one on clients to ensure that everything will stay in place. Remember, oil and water don’t mix, so don’t be surprised if a waterproof product moves on oily lids."

What's one life-changing makeup hack you've learned?

"A makeup hack that has completely changed my life is waiting until the very end of my routine to apply concealer!" she says. "I find that when applying makeup, most people go for what they consider imperfections and over apply concealer. Apply the rest of your makeup, then use concealer as a finishing touch for a more natural look."
Start out by applying just a little bit of concealer and blending with your fingers — you can always add more if you need it! In addition to the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer, the Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer with Caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer are also great options.
What's your favorite Rare Beauty Fall 2023 look?

"My current favorite for fall is a worn-in eyeliner look," Di Meo says. "It’s an effortless look that defines the eyes, but doesn’t have to be perfect – I usually pair with fresh skin, flushed cheeks for a youthful look, and velvety stained lip."
To get this casual glam, we love products like the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick, Milani Rose Powder Blush, and Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. Don't forget your favorite lipstick (I'm currently loving the Rhode Peptide Lip Tint in Rasberry Jelly)!
