Fans Were Given an Exclusive Gilmore Girls Sneak Peek and We Have the Deets
The return of the Gilmore Girls is so close we can feel it, creeping ever closer to its November 25 Netflix premiere. And while new pics and the emotional first trailer (we’re talking total meltdown territory) are getting us more than a little giddy, some lucky fans hit the jackpot when they were given an exclusive sneak peek at clips from the four new extended episodes. And while they were able to enjoy the snippets with their own eyes, we have all the juicy deets you need to know.
Those who attended this past weekend’s EW PopFest will know that Gilmore Girls creator and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino shared exclusive new footage of the highly anticipated reboot — or more accurately, fans were given a look at SIX new clips. Lucky ducks!
And lucky you, because we know everything they saw! The special peek included a look at Michel checking in guests at the Dragonfly Inn (good to know the biz is still buzzing), as well as a town meeting were Taylor Doose was doing his irksome thang.
But that’s not nearly all. There was a look at Stars Hollow’s International Food Festival, where we’ll see Kirk chatting with Taylor and explaining that their version of international will in fact include a mere 15 countries out of a possible 195, saying, “Brazil’s niece had a soccer game, Turks and Caicos got a foot fungus, and Singapore’s just being a dick.” Bahaha!
Fans got a glimpse into Lorelai and Luke’s (confirmed?) relationship, though in an unexpected way, as the latter has a dismal conversation with Emily. “If you go first,” she says after asking Luke if he has a will, “and your affairs aren’t in order, it all comes crashing down on my daughter’s head.” It looks like Emily is as optimistic as ever.
But we also get a hint of her softer side when she walks into Richard’s study and says, “I still smell Richard’s cigars. I like that smell.” Oof.
But of course, as always, it all comes back to Lorelai and Rory. When Rory moves back into her bedroom in Stars Hollow after a stint in Brooklyn, she explains to her mom, “Lena Dunham’s just going to have to get along without me.” Though the conversation moves along quickly (natch) to Rory looking for her underwear and lucky outfit, which is when Lorelai helpfully points out, “I think any outfit you wear without underwear is going to be a lucky outfit.” Lol! Fair enough.
It’s making us giddier than ever, and we can’t wait to see these bits in (glorious, long-awaited, sure-to-be-loved) context.
