When it comes to sourcing inspiration, Pinterest is the mother ship for sure. Roughly 200 million pinners a month hit up the online idea mecca for everything from recipes to
home decor to yes, of course, fashion. So if there’s anyone that would have the inside scoop on what trends are gaining traction, it’s them — which is why the Pinterest 100, a report that tracks what searches have the most momentum, never disappoints. Here, the fourth annual installment gives us a peek into what style ideas you can expect to see more of in 2018.
The bigger the better, it appears. Pins saving “structured statement earrings” increased by a whopping 947 percent. So, pairs like these Zara Long Flower Earrings ($20) should for sure be on your list of New Year's resolutions.
Forget the skinny! Saves for "wide leg" climbed 213 percent, so give yourself some room with a flowy pair like these blooming H&M Wide-Leg Pants ($30).
We know socks are officially the go-to unexpected accessory of late, so it's no surprise that "sheer socks" were pinned 72 percent more this year. Peeking out of jeans or ankle boots or paired with pumps, fun finds like
Free People Riot Sport Wine Red Striped Fishnet Socks ($10) will add some extra "Yass" to your look.
We've got one word for you: plastics. Pinners saved "lucite" and "patent leather" 110 percent more this year. Our pick to easily adopt this trend? A sweet set of & Other Stories Patent Ankle Boots ($195).
Being a billboard for brand names is back with a vengeance. "Logos" were saved by pinners 203 percent more, proving that classics like the Champion Script Logo Hoodie ($50) never die.
Another way pinners are kicking it old school? With their denim. Saves of “100 percent cotton denim” surged 115 percent — presumably because jeggings are finally over and vintage-inspired classics like Rivet & Thread Rigid Skinny Jeans ($198) are in.
Are the people feeling that French girl style? Mais oui! Parisian-inspired headwear like the Hat Attack Wool Beret ($32) is clearly top of mind, as searches for “berets” shot up 269 percent.
Split the difference in 2018 with dresses, skirts, and even jeans with vents. Saves for "side slits" were up 147 percent, meaning this Banana Republic Belted Pencil Skirt With Side Slit ($88) and similar items will have your wardrobe feeling cute and current.
"Long layered clothing" searches were up 102 percent, so expect to see dusters and kimonos like this
Angie Women's Velvet Burnout Duster Kimono ($73) everywhere next year. Does this mean the dress over pants thing is sure to follow? Only time will tell!
With saves for "embellished shoes" up 222 percent, it's time to fancify your feet with pearls, buckles, jewels, and more. Not a heels girl? Try these ASOS Desert Rose Embellished Sneakers ($56) for a sporty take on the trend.
