My Favorite Holiday Gift That Gives Back
Hi all! It’s Tanesha, AKA Girl With Curves, and I’m so excited that it’s the holidays! Each holiday season, I like to take time to find meaningful gifts that can also be used in one’s everyday life. It’s sometimes difficult to find gifts that fall into this category, so I was really excited to learn about Mon Amie Watches, a brand that partners with WE, a network of charity organizations that help empower people around the world.
I’m a big supporter of fashion with a cause, and Mon Amie is the perfect example of a company going the extra mile to create a beautiful product that makes a direct impact on the lives of others. I love that every watch has a specific purpose, and for each one purchased, WE and Mon Amie invest a portion of proceeds directly to a cause that helps people in Kenya — water, opportunity, education, health, or food.
The watches are really well made, with sleek leather straps, colorful faces, and a selection of metal finishes, so there’s one for every wardrobe. To help spread the word about Mon Amie’s special mission, every watch comes with a pin that can be gifted to someone else. Another feature that I love is the Track Your Impact tool on the Mon Amie website. It lets you see exactly how your purchase is being invested.
Each of the five watches comes with an important charity-driven purpose, and because my sisters and I share a desire to make an impact on the world, I’m gifting each of them watches for the holidays. The Health Watch, which helps women in Kenya get prenatal care, is the one I’m gifting to myself. I can’t imagine not having prenatal care during such a critical time, and I’m beyond lucky to live in a place where it’s readily available, so this watch and the charity behind it means a great deal to me.
The Education Watch, which I’m gifting to my sister Alea, who places great value on education with her own three kids, provides school supplies for a classroom. I’m gifting the Food Watch to Chelsey, which provides school lunches to a child for two months. She has a heart of gold and volunteers regularly with several charities in her current hometown of Waikiki, Hawaii. Jazmen is super passionate about social welfare and furthering women’s education, so I’m gifting her the Opportunity Watch, which provides financial literacy training for 10 women. I’m gifting the Water Watch to Daysha since she’s the environmentalist in the group. It provides clean water to a family for two weeks.
I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when they open the gifts, and am curious to see who they gift their pins to!
