Findables: A New Way to Connect and Find Lost Gadgets

With all the ways I’ve posted about how to track your gadgets, pets, and more, you’d think I lose my stuff all the time. I assure you that’s not the case. That said, here’s a new way to not only track your stuff but also connect with new friends and colleagues. Findables, originally launched on indiegogo, is a smartphone case with an app that acts like a business card, calling card, or lost and found notice.

Once you’ve purchased a Findables case—they come in 10 colors including, glow in the dark!—download the app, and set up your profile. Well, three profiles, but I’ll get to that in a minute. The profiles in the app are connected to the QR code on the back of the case. Have a colleague or new friend scan it, and they’ll automatically be redirected to the profile you currently have live in the Findables app.

Findables AppFacebook or Twitter profile (even better set them up to be follow links!). And finally, set up the third profile for lost and found purposes. That way if you lose your phone and a good samaritan finds it, they can scan the QR code to contact you and help you get your life phone back.

Depending one what’s on your social calendar you can easily use the app to switch which profile shows up when your QR code is scanned. And if you find your phone goes missing, simply log in to the Findables website to make your “Contact Me” page the active profile. It’s as easy as that to get your gadgets back.
