Gabrielle Union Wants to Help You Achieve Flawless Hair on a Budget
Gabrielle Union is joining the ranks of actresses like Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore by launching a beauty brand. The Being Mary Jane star is pushing up her sleeves and doing the work to make sure that “women with textured hair… have great hair days,” she told WWD. And she’s thought of everything, including the fashion-y product packaging.
On March 1 on Flawlesshair.com, she will introduce Flawless by Gabrielle Union, a range of 10 shampoos, conditioners and styling products, all between $19 to $29. The line will then hit shelves in Ulta on April 16.
It took the 44-year-old a long time to come to accept her textured hair. “I went through a phase where I would leave my relaxer on so long, thinking the longer I leave this relaxer on, the straighter it’s going to be,” she told WWD. “Cut to lesions, like open wounds in my scalp, trying to chase something that was unrealistic, and eventually probably in my mid- to late-20s I decided to give up my relaxer, and I went natural. By natural I mean underneath the weaves, extensions, clips and the hair color was my natural hair — thriving.”
So, when it came to the new line, Gabrielle wanted to make sure every product, from the packaging to the formula, was on point. “What caught my attention with Flawless is that I would no longer just be the face of a brand, but would be designing a line of products that address what I feel are the main issues for women with textured hair,” Gabrielle also said in a press release. “I’ve made it my mission to make sure everything from the formulas to the packaging are just right.”
Yas, Gabby! We can’t wait until the products hit Ulta Beauty shelves.
