How to Create Your Own Colorful Jumbo Floor Pillows
Now that we’ve got you swooning over colorful living rooms, comfy couches, and DIY pillows, it’s time to make some coziness of your own! We’d definitely put this in the “weekend project” category as they take a little more time than our usual 30 minute projects.

– 12 yards of fabric (2 yards of each type if you’re going for mix-and-match)– polyester fiberfill (stuffing!)
Tools:
– fabric scissors
– needle and thread
– sewing machine
The how-to for each of these is the same, but the measurements are not. First, we’ll show you how to make a large square 36 inch by 36 inch floor pillow. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for dimensions for all the pillows we made.
As with any sewing project, the first thing to do is cut your fabric! Cut 2 squares that are 36 inches by 36 inches. Then, with a complimentary or matching fabric, cut 4 pieces that are 36 inches by 7 inches. Lay everything out before you get on the sewing machine to make sure all your pieces fit together.
Start with the top of your pillow.
Place the two “right” sides of the fabric facing each other and sew with a 1 inch seam allowance. Repeat on for all 4 side panels.
Attaching the bottom of the pillow is the same as the top, but you want to leave one side panel open – this is where you’ll put the stuffing in. Remember, your pillow should look like it’s inside out while you sew.
Sew each of the corners (still inside out) and then turn your pillow case right side out.
Fill with stuffing and pin with the same 1 inch seam allowance.
Hand-stitch to secure, and you’re done!
Repeat with as many pillows as you like and you’ll have a whole floor pillow palace.
The dimensions for all of the pillows we made are as follows:
