Favorite Now, Make Later: Edible Flower Cake
We’re all about hacks here at Brit + Co. and this cake is no exception. We used packaged cake mix and frosting to create this four-layer stunner, then we decorated with edible flowers. You could even use a plain store bought cake if you’re short on time. We’re definitely serving this at our next dinner party, baby shower, bridal luncheon, or any other fun occasion.
Ingredients:
– 2 packages cake mix (we used lemon)
– 6 eggs
– 2 1/2 cups diet Sprite (one 20-oz. bottle)
– 4 tubs vanilla frosting
– Edible flowers (we found ours at Whole Foods in the herbs section)
Instructions:
1. Place cake mix, eggs and Sprite in a large bowl and beat with a blender until smooth.
2. Divide batter between four 9″ cake pans. Bake according to package directions.
3. Once cakes are completely cool, frost the top of each layer and stack.
4. Cover outside of cake with a thin crumb coat and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
5. Add another layer of thick frosting and then decorate the sides with edible flowers.
