This iPhone Accessory Promises Perfect Selfies
Welp, we’ve reached the point of no return. Lazy people, selfie-takers, and phone accessory fanatics, rejoice. There’s a new attachment for your phone… and it’s not an app. It’s called the Fonhandle and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Except much more ridiculous.
The Fonhandle is “a new kind of accessory for the technological world,” otherwise known as a handle for your phone. Citing history, creator Yonatan Assouline refers back to the good old days when man turned rock, metal and bone into axes and hammers. By adding handles to things, he argues, we advanced as a society.
We have to give Yonatan some props for his cheeky promotional video, which features references to video games (love), the old Apple spinning wheel of death (dislike) and the chic, fashionable accessory he’s created (adore). It’s cheesy, in the best possible way.
But that still doesn’t answer the question of “why?!” Why spend months sketching, 3D printing and designing prototypes to create what’s essentially a glorified phone case? It appears the answer is… selfies.
Yes, selfies are the perfect use for this new gadget. Sure, it’s also easier to grab your phone from your purse (the handle sticks out conveniently) and sure, it probably will be easier to browse the web without having to constantly adjust your grip. But the best use we can envision for this toy is stretching out an arm, and snapping the perfect group photo.
Yonatan is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, but he’s still got thousands more to go in just a couple days to reach his goal. We hope the enthusiast entrepreneur makes his dreams come true, but tell us, would you buy one of these accessories? Or are they just too weird/unnecessary? Let us know in the comments!
