Forever 21’s New Cold-Shoulder Denim Jacket Will Definitely Leave You Cold
In the wide world of fashion, there has been no shortage of head-scratching items (remember those clear knee mom jeans?) that could have used a focus group or two. The latest in mind-boggling sartorial release comes from Forever 21 in the form of a denim jacket — if you can call it that.
When it’s done right, the cold shoulder trend — pioneered by Hillary Clinton no less! — can look great. But the fast fashion retailer’s new Open-Shoulder Denim Jacket ($33) takes the look to a whole new level: It’s cut all the way to the buttons and held up with pretty much just the collar. Um. Okay. Also, while raw-hemmed denim is totally a trend right now, in this case, this “jacket” kind of has the look of a DIY project gone wrong.
The result is a piece of outerwear that really doesn’t serve any purpose save for being a great conversation starter. But if you’re trying to actually maintain body warmth this fall, you should probably seek out something with the shoulders still attached.
