How to Hack the Perfect Front-Facing Braided Topknot
Got curls? You lucky girl! Does it seem like your coils lose texture and just disappear when placed on top of your head in an updo? We hear you, lady — that’s why we designed an oversized braided topknot to make the most of those luscious ringlets. We love that this look is part punk, part runway and all kinds of chic. Read on to learn our trick to perfecting this masterpiece for a true fashion statement this fall.
STEP 1: CREATE YOUR FIRST LIFT
The fastest and easiest way to create this look is to part your hair into two sections. First, gather the front and sides of your hair into a ponytail. Secure it with a clear elastic.
STEP 2: CREATE YOUR SECOND LIFT
Next, repeat the same process with the rest of your hair. Now, you’ll have two sections to play with to form a fat braid reminiscent of a faux-hawk.
STEP 3: BEGIN BRAIDING
Begin French braiding your second (rear-facing) ponytail in an upward motion. When you reach the hair from your first (front-facing) ponytail, begin blending all the hair together as you would a standard French braid.
Once you reach the end of your hair, tie the look together with a clear elastic hair band.
STEP 4: FORM A FAUX BANG
Now, use the ends of your braid to form faux bangs. Roll them underneath and pin them into place. After you’ve pinned the ends, wiggle them into place until they’re sitting pretty on your forehead. We love how this style works for a multitude of textures, on clean and second-day hair!
Gorgeous, girl!
