The First Teaser for ‘Frozen 2’ Is Not What We Expected
Frozen 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019, and on Wednesday, February 13, Disney finally dropped the first official teaser.
The short clip opens with a shot of a very determined-looking Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel). As the dark and moody scene reveals itself, we discover that the ice queen appears to be stranded somewhere and is attempting to freeze a large body of water in order to cross it.
The teaser also gives quick glimpses of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), who appear to be some distress themselves. Anna looks shocked to discover what appears to be a thick covering of shimmering, floating ice crystals, while Kristoff is shown riding his reindeer, Sven, through a forest, as a herd of other reindeer emerges and follows closely behind.
Olaf (Josh Gad) also makes an appearance, as he and Elsa attempt to escape a ring of fire. An epic new song triumphantly soars in the background, until — in the final second — Anna draws a sword and lunges forward.
The teaser, though vague, is the closest thing to a plot update we’ve been given on the closely guarded sequel to the massive 2013 hit film. “I know the songs; I know the story — it’s very good!” Bell told Ellen DeGeneres in April 2018. “I can’t say much more than that or I’ll get in trouble!”
In recent months, there have been reports that Sterling K Brown and Evan Rachel Wood are among the new voice talents for the sequel, but so far, Disney has not released any official information.
Frozen 2 is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2019.
