Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Welcome a Baby Girl Via Surrogacy
Surprise! Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade just welcomed a daughter into their family. The actress took to Instagram on Thursday, November 8, to announce the arrival of their “miracle baby” born via surrogacy.
“A LOVELY DAY,” the new mom captioned a series of pics that showed her and her husband with their new addition. “We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party, sweet girl! #onelastdance #skintoskin”
Although the parents didn’t reveal the newborn’s name, Union did share a sweet message to her daughter, in the form of lyrics from Bill Withers’ 1977 song “Lovely Day”: “When I wake up in the mornin’ love / And the sunlight hurts my eyes / And there’s something without warning, love / Bears heavy on my mind / Then I look at you / And the world’s all right with me / Just one look at you / And I know its gonna be / A lovely day / A lovely day.”
The little one joins Wade’s three sons from previous relationships: 16-year-old Zaire Blessing Dwyane, 11-year-old Zion Malachi Airamis, and Xavier Zechariah, who turns five on Saturday. Wade and Union also care for his nephew, 17-year-old Dahveon Morris.
The new baby girl’s arrival comes after years of fertility struggles for the couple. Union has been open about the difficulties she’s faced while trying to conceive, writing in her book last year that she has suffered eight or nine miscarriages.
She also wrote, however, that both she and Wade “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.”
Congratulations to the happy family!
