The Geode Hair Trend Is Here Just in Time for Summer
The bright hair color trend we saw last year continues to dominate in 2017 — only this time it has an epic new twist. First, we fell for rainbow hair, then came unicorn strands and pastel hues. And just when our dyed locks were starting to grow out, there’s a new name in the game. Think back to geology class for a minute, and remember how every gal’s favorite rock was the geode?

Now imagine coloring your tresses with all those gorgeous tones of teal, purple, and gray. Geode hair is now a thing, and it totally rocks (oh yes, we went there!).
1. All the Colors: Just like the inside of every geode is unique, this look is going to show itself a bit differently on everyone, depending on your base color. Here we see a gorg mix of purples, teals, gray, and even an orange streak.
2. Pastel Geode: For a lighter take on the earthy trend, go for an ombre pattern starting with the most dramatic purple at the roots that fades to a pastel pink on the ends. You’ll get a more subtle color that still really stands out.
3. Balayage Geode: If you’re unsure about committing to all-over color, you can still go geode with a graduated balayage. To get this look, your stylist might first have to pre-lighten your hair, then they can blend on the electric purple and navy blue you’re after.
4. Pixie Geode: You don’t have to have long hair to get mega color. These geode color streaks totally stand out on a short cut, making the look even more dramatic.
