Get the Look of Alexis Bledel’s Nautical Living Room
While you will always picture Rory Gilmore living in that shabby-chic cottage in Stars Hollow, the Gilmore Girls’ actress Alexis Bledel’s NY home is a little more modern, a little nautical and a whole lot more enviable. Her duplex apartment features things like two-story ceilings, a private rooftop deck and other things fellow apartment dwellers only dream of. Even though there aren’t any quilts and floral couches, there are a lot of built-in bookshelves for Rory’s… er Alexis’ book collection, and the space feels contemporary and coastal, boasting a blue-and-white palette with natural touches like rattan and wood. Alexis just sold this duplex (presumably to make space for her brand new baby!), but after checking out the home on Street Easy, we couldn’t pass up the chance to get the look. With throw pillows, oversized wall art, accent tables and a few rustic touches, Alexis’ home feels like a breath of fresh air that is easy to recreate just in time for summer. Even though Alexis’ living room is all about that cool gray and white color palette, her space still feels inviting thanks to layers of throw blankets, soft textures and plenty of house plants. The space also boasts nautical accents like striped throw pillows and a rope mirror on the wall. If you want to get the same look in your living room, stick to a mostly monochromatic color palette but add tons of texture. Think: lucite side table, wooden serving tray and leather butterfly chairs.
