You’ll Never Guess What Decade Is Dominating Emmys Red Carpet Style
You’d have to be living under a rock right now to not have noticed that all of fashion and beauty right now is heavily influenced by decades of the past. ‘70s flares and other easy-feeling frills are back in full-force for fall, not to mention mini mod styles that nod to the ‘60s (from up-to-there A-line skirts and graphic eyeliner) along with slinky, minimalist looks that channel the ‘90s (which is alive in our hearts always). But while *we’re* buying, DYing and beautifying from those decades, your favorite TV stars are passing them up and instead, taking their inspo from a much more glamorous time. It was all about 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s styles at the Emmys tonight.
Forget about lazy girl hair — finger waves, barrel curls and pin curls dominated in the beauty department, with celebs like Kerry Washington, Taylor Schilling, Emma Roberts and Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones donning some of the most elegant hairstyles we’ve seen on the red carpet in recent years. The perfectly textured tresses helped to round out each of their Old Hollywood-inspired looks, from Lady Gaga’s Liz Taylor-esqe gown to Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein’s Katheryn Hepburn-style suit. It’s just the nudge we need to whip out our curling wand for our next big event.
