These Are The Top 10 Jobs in the US This Year
If you’re ready to quit your current job, make a career change, and snag a gig at a place everyone wants to work, there’s no doubt you’ve scoped out a top jobs list or two. They’re the ultimate career cheatsheet and can even give you the tools to help you get to the next level. Mega job site Glassdoor just released its annual list of the best 50 jobs in America, so scroll on for this year’s top 10, along with some insider info you can use to make smart professional decisions. Woohoo!
Glassdoor’s Top 10 Jobs for 2017
This year, Glassdoor broadened its list from 25 to 50 of the best gigs in the country. The rankings are based on number of job openings, salary, and reported job satisfaction. Thanks to the digital age, tech-focused jobs claimed many of the top 10 spots on the 2017 list:
1. Data Scientist
2. DevOps Engineer
3. Data Engineer
4. Tax Manager
5. Analytics Manager
6. HR Manager
7. Database Administrator
8. Strategy Manager
9. UX Designer
10. Solutions Architect
Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor’s chief economist, explains, “The top-rated jobs on the 2017 list are highly skilled and are staying ahead of the growing trend toward workplace automation.” Though it’s both scary and exciting to think about what an even more tech-savvy future will look like, Chamberlain says there are tons of positions for people with these skill sets in many industries. “This includes employers and companies in health care, finance, retail, and more.”
He goes on to say that because *all* industries need to continue to drive business by building a mobile app and online presence, the list includes positions in analytics, UI/UX design, HR, accounting, and management.
While tech jobs do show up in 14 spots total on this year’s list (more than any other specialty), there are also seven health-focused roles within this year’s rankings — including physical therapist (number 49), which also has the highest number of current job openings on the site: a whopping 24,579.
Feeling inspired? Awesome. There’s never been a better time to revamp your resume, craft the perfect cover letter, and nail your personal website before applying for some great gigs. The future is bright!
