Ready? Let’s hop to it!
Start by gathering all of your ingredients.
Make cookie dough according to Wilton sugar cookie recipe. The dough is ready when it starts to come together and form a ball.
Divide dough into two balls and roll one out to 1/8″ on a floured surface.
Using oval cookie cutters, cut out as many cookies as you can from your dough. Re-roll the scraps to make more cookies.
Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes depending on cookie size. Tip: Don’t mix cookie sizes on the same baking sheet – they require different baking times!
Once your cookies have cooled, outline the edge of each cookie with white cookie icing and then flood the center with more icing. Let dry at least 3 hours.
When your icing is dry, mix up your pearl dust with lemon extract or water. Lemon extract definitely works the best but water is a good substitute.
