The Glossy Smokey Eye is a Must-Try from the Paris Fashion Week Runway
Models like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and (newly engaged!) Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have been busy strutting their stuff on the runway at Paris Fashion Week this week and trust us when we say that they’ve been 100% bringing IT. While minimalism has been the name of the game when it comes to recent beauty trends, a completely new look emerged straight off the runway — and it’s giving the muted makeup look a run for its money.
The glossy smokey eye was the look of choice famed makeup artist Pat McGrath created on models at the Versace Spring Summer 2016 show. The moody, sooty eye is definitely a classic makeup look, but the addition of that slightly sheeny factor really gives it new life and a serious refresh that feels very 2016. It’s like glamour meets grunge with a definite hint of chicness that can flawlessly transition from the runway to a night on the town.
You already have the smokey eye makeup tutorials you need to get the base of this look down, so it’s really all about getting the glossy part just right — you don’t want to look like you just covered your eyes in car grease, y’all. The key to achieving this look is not overdoing the shine — you want just a hint of shine. After you’ve created your ‘normal’ smokey eye, gently tap a littttle bit of your favorite beauty balm (or clear lip gloss!) over your lid to elevate your smokey eye. Done and done!
