This Vibrating J-Beauty Tool Will Replace Your Jade Roller
We're calling it: Jade rollers are so 2018. The must-have skincare tool of 2019 is a vibrating bar made of gold (yes, gold).
Celeb makeup artist Jillian Dempsey discovered the T-bar beauty tool in Japan a few years ago and became so enamored with the lifting and toning effects that she decided to bring the technology stateside. "I first starting using the gold bar about three years ago. I slowly started to discover that it created immediate sculpted results on clients and on myself," Dempsey, who works with Leslie Mann, Jennifer Aniston, and Emilia Clarke, tells Brit + Co.
For her The Gold Bar ($195), Dempsey made sure to add a special, personal touch. "When I met with the Japanese team, I gave them one of my custom-made rose gold bracelets to keep as inspo while designing my personalized custom shade with my logo," the makeup artist, who shares three children with husband Patrick Dempsey, says.
The Gold Bar works sort of like your jade roller in that you sweep it across your clean face in upward and outward motions. But its intense vibrations instantly melt away puffiness and impart a contoured effect.
Aside from sculpting, it relieves any built-up tension in your jaws. "I love it for any facial tension, but my favorite spots are to roll (or push) it upwards from the sides of the mouth, over the cheeks, in the direction toward the ears," says Dempsey. "I use it on my neck but also around the eyes. It's great for defining jawlines and under the chin area."
