Red Carpet Recap: The Best Dressed at the Golden Globes
It’s that time of year again for the hottest kick off party in Hollywood to get you ready for award season — the Golden Globe Awards. Like everyone else, here at Brit + Co we were looking forward to seeing Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kill the hosting game for their very last time, George Clooney get roasted and Meryl (AND OPRAH) get the love they deserve. But most importantly we were dying to see which of our favorite stars shined on the red carpet. Tonight, primary colors reigned supreme as well as metallic and bejeweled gowns. Here are some of the very best dressed + the takeaway trends from tonight’s red carpet.
Rosamund Pike: Rosamund stole our hearts in this custom Vera Wang gown. Bonus: She pulled off this backless beauty after just giving birth to her son 5 weeks ago. Seriously, you go, girl! (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
Emma Stone: Emma is definitely America’s sweetheart with her bubbly personality and infectious laugh. Now let’s talk about that elegant Lanvin jumpsuit with a flowing bow as a train. Divine. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Allison Williams: Allison from the cast of Girls stunned on the red carpet with a bright red Armani Prive dress with amazing intricate beading. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
Kerry Washington: A usual red carpet darling, Kerry took a risk this year by wearing a bi-colored Mary Karantzou dress and, being lovers of all things bright and colorful, we are so happy she did. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Amal Clooney: Mrs. Clooney was definitely the most anticipated look of the night and she did not disappoint. She paid tribute to old Hollywood glamour with a Dior Haute Couture dress and long white gloves that screamed class act. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Anna Kendrick: Anna graced the red carpet in a beautiful, hopelessly romantic look by Monique Lhuillier that is (wait for it) totally pitch perfect. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
Felicity Jones: Felicity, who has been named the new Lupita of the red carpet, wore this emerald Christian Dior dress — totally the new duck egg blue. (Photos via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
Lorde: Sartorial soothsayers predicted that Lorde would most likely wear a pantsuit to this occasion and, boy, did she ever. Lorde blew us away in a sophisticated all black Narcisco Rodriguez pantsuit topped off with a diamond choker. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Lena Dunham: Everyone knows about the bond Lena shares with Zac Posen, right? From her childhood babysitter (aw) to her red carpet go-to (awww), we think these two should work together more often. Tonight, he did our favorite cast member and creator from Girls right by designing a perfect red satin gown with a high-low hemline. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Lupita Nyong’o: Lupita wore a lilac flower adorned dress by Giambattista Valli to let us know she still rules the red carpet. We bow down, Lupita. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Taylor Schilling: The cast of Orange Is the New Black knows how to rock a red carpet, and Piper looked ravishing in classic red. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
