Gossip Girl Creators Are Bringing a Dynasty Reboot to The CW
It may seem like the news coming out of TV-land has been pretty dire lately, with shows being canceled almost daily, but we’ve just (finally!) been given a ray of hope. While Blake Lively was teasing us with the possibility of a Gossip Girls reboot, it now appears as if the people responsible for the popular show have another new series in the works. Or rather, they’re spinning an exciting reboot as they work their Hollywood magic to bring Dynasty to The CW.
Back in the day, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage were the duo who brought us the always drama-filled series, Gossip Girl, starring Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and the rest of the luxe-living gang. Now, they’re teaming up again to reboot Dynasty, the similarly drama-filled ‘80s series focusing on a wealthy (yet wildly dysfunctional) family.
Already picked up for the 2017/2018 season, the reboot will star Elizabeth Gillies, who steps onto the scene as the newest member of the Carrington family and finds herself having issues with her stepmother, played by Nathalie Kelley. If Cinderella has shown us anything, it’s that this tumultuous relationship already has plenty of potential for sparking drama.
While this news may already have fans tenting their fingers in mischievous anticipation, the fact that the original Dynasty producers are totally on board only gives us hope that stars like Joan Collins and Diahann Carroll may sign on for this reboot to play some truly epic trouble-making roles.
