This Bride Surprised Her Grandmother by Wearing Her Wedding Dress from 1962
We all know the old mantra when it comes to wedding day luck: something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. One woman’s decision for the old, borrowed, and new item will melt your heart.
Jordyn Cleverly, née Jensen, chose to wear her grandmother Penny’s wedding dress from 1962 for her own nuptials Originally her grandmother was going to donate the dress, but Cleverly had other ideas.
She told Inside Edition, “I went and tried it on and it was actually maybe a size or two too big and so I contacted a local seamstress to see if there was anything we could do with it and she said, ‘Absolutely, it’s in fantastic shape.’ [My grandma] had zero idea; she had no idea it was even in my possession.”
And she did it as a surprise, revealing it at the rehearsal dinner. The big reveal was adorably sweet. Cleverly said of her grandmother’s reaction, “She was just speechless. I kind of blacked out for a second because it was such an emotional rollercoaster. All I heard her saying in the back was, ‘Wow, wow, wow.’ I finally went up and hugged her and she whispered in my ear, ‘I married my high school sweetheart in this dress and so will you.'”
