Gray Malin’s Pool House Makeover Is Summertime Living at Its Finest
Gray Malin is best known for his stunning work with a camera, but the guy also knows his way around a home decor project. The photographer’s signature bright hues translate beautifully in his pool-house makeover. Read on to find out how Malin worked with Wayfair and Decorist to transform a dingy garage into a fully functioning pool house with a spare bedroom, then head over to GrayMalin.com to check out the rest of the gorgeous space.
Malin knew he wanted a sophisticated-yet-playful vibe. Since the space works as an entertainment center, a poolside bathroom, a lounge area, AND a guest bedroom when the parties are over, it was important that all the furniture in the pool house be multifunctional. Obviously, the outside wouldn’t be complete without Malin’s very own Rivazzurra Umbrellas ($3450+), complete with retro teal fringe.
Malin told Wayfair, “For the interior, I wanted to create a Palm Beach Bungalow style and for the exterior, I envisioned an East Coast Teak Hamptons style with lush green grass and tall green hedges.” Needless to say, the snappy styles pair perfectly with his behind-the-camera aesthetic.
During the day, when the sun is out, he can fold up the room divider and open the “garage” door to reveal an outdoor dining area. Malin explained, “When it’s time for bed… it goes back down, the divider goes back up, and it’s time to make yourself at home, unpack your clothes, then hop in bed for a relaxing night’s sleep.”
