The Ultimate Guacamole Trifecta: Bacon Dill, Feta Basil, and Spicy Mango Mint
Cinco de Mayo is on the horizon and here at Brit + Co, and we are in full swing prepping for this weekend’s fiesta. You’ve already seen our margarita lineup, and now we’ve got three ways to take your guacamole from drab to calienté! No boring old guac here, we took these gorgeous avocados and added tastes of summer with fresh mangos, basil… and bacon. Because who doesn’t love bacon?
We dreamed up three tempting varieties that are easy to make: Spicy Mango + Mint; Feta + Basil; and Bacon + Dill.
Ingredients for the base guacamole:
– 6 cups of sliced avocado (5-6 whole avocados depending on size)
– 1/2 cup diced red onion
– 1/4 cup minced garlic
– 2 tablespoons lime juice
– 1 tablespoon kosher salt
Start by slicing the avocados and placing them in a bowl. Add the garlic, red onion and salt. Stir with a fork until there are only a few chunks of avocado left.
Separate the base guacamole into three bowls.
Now it’s time to do what we do best: Trick it out!
1. Mango + Mint (spicy)
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup diced mangos
– 2 tablespoons fresh torn mint
– 1 tablespoon minced jalapeños
Peel the skin off the mango, then dice it into chunks. Set aside. Mince the jalapeños.
Stir in the mango, mint and jalapeño and garnish with a fresh mint leaf!
2. Feta + Basil (medium)
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup crumbled feta
– 2 tablespoons fresh torn basil
– 1 teaspoon minced jalapeños
First, tear up your basil and mince up a small amount of jalapeños. Stir everything into your second bowl of guac and you’re done!
3. Bacon + Dill (mild)
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup bacon pieces
– 2 tablespoons fresh torn dill
Start by frying the bacon. Set aside and let it cool. Once cool, stir the bacon and the dill into your third bowl of guacamole. Yum!
Serve with tortilla chips, but make sure they are a sturdy variety – you’ll want to scoop up lots of these guacamole creations!
Feta + Basil was the crowd favorite at our fiesta! The Mango + Mint won for most creative and the Bacon + Dill… well it was gone in 2.5 seconds.
