It's time to cozy up and get your fright on for Halloween. Whether it's a comedic creep-out, epic gore-fest, or a psychological thriller you seek, there's a Halloween movie for everyone.
The Craft: Sarah Bailey (Robin Tunney) transfers to a Los Angeles Catholic school and falls in with outcast witches who just happen to be looking for a fourth to join their rituals. Teen angst is taken to new extremes as Sarah, Nancy Downs (Fairuza Balk), Bonnie (Neve Campbell), and Rochelle (Rachel True) conjure the power to use spells on those who have messed with them. A classic Halloween movie for anyone who also loves a good twist on a teen flick. (Photo via Columbia Pictures/Getty)
The Scream Franchise: In the sleepy little town of Woodsboro, a killer who is obsessed with horror movies is on the loose. The franchise spawned four movies and a Netflix series, but Scream and Scream 2 are the best. You would be hard pressed not to see a Ghostface costume this Halloween (or on any Halloween since the movie first premiered back in the ‘90s, TBH). (Photo via Joseph Viles Dimension Films)
The Fly: Who doesn't love a good story based on a science experiment gone awry? While in the process of testing his teleportation device, scientist David Hedison (Andre Delambre) accidentally fuses with a fly. The classic also stars Patricia Owens and Vincent Price. But it may be a little too creepy for anyone with an insect-related phobia. (Photo via 20th Century Fox/Getty)
The Nightmare Before Christmas: Tim Burton's Halloween-holiday hybrid cult classic tells the story of Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon), the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who grows bored of his life and searches for something new. After discovering Christmas Town, he tries to incorporate Christmas into his spook-tacular world — only to create a heck of a lot of confusion. (Photo via Disney Enterprises Inc./ABC)
Young Frankenstein: A hauntingly hilarious comedy from Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein is a cheeky take on the classic Mary Shelley novel. If you haven't seen it, you definitely need to check it out at least once. And if you have seen it, you know you have to watch it again. (Photo via Stanley Bielecki Movie Collection/Getty)
The Omen: This one is for viewers who love a classic horror flick. We've all known some difficult kids (or maybe we were the difficult kids!), but in this movie, American ambassador to Italy Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) is under the suspicion that the child he is raising, Damien, is in fact the Antichrist. *shudder* (Photo via Stanley Bielecki Movie Collection/Getty)
The Shining: "Heeeeere's Johnny!" Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd travel to an isolated and possessed hotel in Stanley Kubrick's mind-melting movie The ShIning. This is one movie that you seriously don't want to watch alone. (Photo via Warner Brothers/Getty)
Corpse Bride: Nervous groom Victor (voiced by Johnny Depp) practices his wedding vows unknowingly in the presence of the Corpse Bride (voiced by Helena Bonham Carter), who comes back from the dead assuming that she and Victor are now married. Tim Burton's renowned influence gives life to the dead in this quirky animated film. (Photo via Albert L. Ortega/WireImage)
The Sixth Sense: Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcom Crowe, a child psychologist who's trying to help troubled child Cole (Haley Joel Osment) talk about his dark secret, in this M. Night Shyamalan film. (Photo via Getty)
The Blair Witch Project: In Maryland, three film students venture into the woods to document the mysterious Blair Witch. A year after they vanish, their footage is found. Many believed this genre-bending flick to be true when it first hit theaters. (Photo via Lauren Film/Getty)
Sleepy Hollow: Tim Burton and Johnny Depp team up for a creepy retelling of the classic story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) heads to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the mysterious beheadings of three townspeople, and what he finds will leave you with goosebumps. (Photo via Paramount)
The Sharknado Franchise: In this so-bad-it's-good series of made-for-TV movies, various cities come under attack by freak storms that are filled with deadly sharks. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid team up to fight some vicious fish and save their own butts in this franchise, which would suit anyone who would rather laugh than scream. The Addams Family: This Halloween must-watch movie is a stunning and fantastic take on the original cartoon. Morticia and Gomez Addams (played beautifully by Angelica Houston and Raul Julia) and their super strange family have their worlds rocked when long-lost Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) shows up and suspicions about his original disappearance abound. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: A classic seasonal cartoon, Charlie Brown and the gang are in full fall mode getting ready for the Halloween dance while Linus waits for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. (Photo via United Feature Syndicate Inc.)
Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters are a trio of witches (played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) who have been resurrected by a curse they laid down 300 years before. Now it's up to a couple of kids and an immortal cat to put an end to the sisters' hijinks. This cult classic is a must-watch family film during the Halloween season. (Photo via Buena Vista Pictures)
