Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda Brings Broadway to Carpool Karaoke
James Cordon’s Carpool Karaoke is undeniably one of the highlights of late night television these days. With former guests like Gwen Stefani, George Clooney and Julia Roberts, not to mention Chewbacca Mom and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams, all the popular peeps take a ride with him. But now, as Cordon prepares to host this year’s Tony Awards on June 12th, he picked up one of the stars of Broadway for an epic carpool karaoke sesh. Lin-Manual Miranda, Alexander Hamilton himself (as well as the fella who will be appearing in the brand new Mary Poppins movie), jumped into the front seat and let the tunes fly.
Starting with an enthusiastic rendition of “Alexander Hamilton,” the two rap their way through the song as they wind their way through the streets. Just try not to groove along with ‘em while James takes on some of the trickier parts.
But, of course, they weren’t the only celebs looking for a lift. Soon they were joined by Audra McDonald (six-time Tony winner), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) and Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) while the group traveled through NY, belting out songs from an assortment of Broadway hits.
Watch the musical ride below and just try not to sing along.
