Find Out the Heartwarming (Yet Tragic) Reason Taylor Swift Gave a Fan $5K
Taylor Swift may be in the midst of her second major breakup this year — we’re talking about almost-went-the-distance Calvin Harris and just-couldn’t-make-it-work Tom Hiddleston, of course — but she’s certainly not wallowing in her heartbreak. Instead, she’s doing her best to bring some joy into the lives of those who support her with their loyal fandom. That’s why you’ll definitely want to find out the heartwarming (yet tragic) reason Taylor just gave a fan $5,000.
Recently, Katie Beth Carter passed away after injuries sustained in a car accident she was involved in where the other members of her family all survived. Katie’s sister and Taylor Swift fan, Kimi, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover medical expenses and the cost of the arrangements.
With the support of friends and sympathetic strangers, they have already passed their $35k goal with $35,215. Way to go, everyone!
$5k of that amount happens to be from someone who wanted to show their support with a celeb-sized donation and heartfelt sentiment: Taylor Swift. “Kimi, no words could express how sorry I am for your loss. I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor.”

Kimi posted a pic of the note to Twitter with the touching reaction, “THIS THIS THIS MEANS MORE THAN ANYONE CAN KNOW… AT MY SISTERS VISITATION & HAD TO WALK OUT BC WOWOW @taylorswift13.”
Granted, Taylor’s been facing suspicions of damage control with such do-good actions lately, but let’s just leave that aside for now and appreciate the wondering effect this gesture has surely had.
Excuse us for a moment. *sniffle*
