Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda Own the Runway at Paris Fashion Week
The fashion industry as a whole has always been notoriously limited in the types of models that are featured on the runway. But in their inaugural show, L’Oréal Paris tapped timeless beauty icons Dame Helen Mirren, 72, and Jane Fonda, 79, to strut their stuff at Paris Fashion Week, possibly signaling the beginning of a more age-inclusive era on the catwalk.
Mirren wore a Charlie Chaplin-worthy gray coat, gray checkered wide-legged pants, and black loafers for her runway debut, while looking every inch the dame she is in a bright red lip.

She gamely twirled her walking stick as she sashayed down the runway — clearly having a lot of fun with her new, late-in-life gig.
Prior to the show, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms actress posted a selfie from the rehearsal, which she captioned, “pretending to be a model on the champs elysee rehearsal.”
Fonda wore a stunning long-sleeved tiger print Balmain gown, adding black tights and booties and a blindingly blingy collared necklace.

The Grace and Frankie star glided down the catwalk high fiving her fellow models and greeting fans. The legendary actresses were joined on the runway by a diverse set of models both male and female, including Iskra Lawrence, Irina Shayk, Liya Kebede, Doutzen Kroes, Alpha Dia, and Vincent Lacrocq.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was in the enthusiastic audience cheering on Mirren and Fonda, and all we can say is, we want more. Designers, take note: If your runway doesn’t have its share of beauty and fashion icons, it’s missing that certain je ne sais quoi.
