Here Are the Most Shocking Possibilities for the New Gilmore Girls Episodes
We can’t deny that the first trailer for the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life gave us ALL of the feels, and we weren’t the only ones. Twitter had a total meltdown over our first peek at the return to Stars Hollow. And while we’ve been left wondering if Lorelai and Luke are truly happy and who Rory might have ended up with, there are a few other options that would be totally surprising. Here are the most shocking possibilities for the new Gilmore Girls episodes.
1. Lorelai and NOT Luke: It’s pretty safe to assume that Lorelai and Luke are together in the new episodes, and not only that, but totally “happy.” We’ve even been wondering if the duo are expecting. Eee! But, what if we’re wrong? There’s a possibility that things go awry and the two don’t end up together. That would certainly be a shocking plot twist (that would no doubt peeve a lot of fans off).
2. Rory and NOT Logan, Jess, or Dean: Are you #TeamLogan? #TeamJess? Or perhaps even #TeamDean? While the trailer gave us a look at Rory and Jess back together (*swoon*) and speculation is buzzing around the possibility that Rory is pregnant with Logan’s baby (whoa!), we also got a glimpse of Dean in the new clip. We know for a fact that all three of the younger Gilmore’s exes make an appearance in the new episodes, but that doesn’t guarantee that Rory will end up with any of them. What would be totally surprising is if she not only did not end up with Logan, Jess or Dean, but if she didn’t end up with anyone at all — or if she ended up with someone totally new.
3. Emily Leaves: With the heartbreaking loss of Richard Gilmore, Lorelai’s mother Emily is going through obvious grief and working through the unexpected changes in her life. With the trailer showing us that Emily is determined to get rid of anything that doesn’t bring her joy, she is fearlessly ditching all sorts of things (including gowns and the dining room chairs). And though, as the monarch of the Gilmores, she’s a staple of the family (despite her devious ways), as she says in the trailer, “Half of me is gone.” That could be just the thing to spark a need for something totally new, including a new base for this world traveler. It would be hugely shocking, but we might see Emily hand the family home over to Lorelai and decide to leave. At least for a time.
4. Peeps HATE the New Episodes: There’s so much excitement and an unreal (yet-probably-totally-justified) amount of hype around the four new extended episodes of the Gilmore Girls and. going by fans’ reactions, they’re already totally in love with what’s to come. That’s why it would be totally shocking if, in the end, reviews are bad and those who adore the show are left disappointed. It’s not likely, but it could happen. And that would suck.
Although anything could potentially happen, we’ll just have to wait and see what our fave characters are really up to when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hits Netflix on November 25.
