Here’s Why This Pretty Little Liars Star Thinks Taylor Swift Is a Bad Role Model
Oof, Taylor Swift cannot catch a break these days! Between her (very) public and not-so-graceful split from Calvin Harris, which included a Twitter rant of epic proportions, and her never-ending Kimye drams (no shaking this one off, it seems!), Tay has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, catching flack from all sides. Now, the “Bad Blood” songstress is catching major shade from yet another celeb: Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario. At a panel hosted by Cosmopolitan at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Troian let her views on Taylor be known, and trust us when we say that the 30-year-old actress did not hold back.
Putting traditional politics on hold for a minute, the magazine asked Troian to share her thoughts on Hollywood’s biggest matchup: Kim Kardashian vs. Taylor Swift. Boy, did she ever! “Oh god, I have such an aversion to the Kardashians because I literally don’t understand people’s obsession with them and I don’t want to accept them as our closest thing to a royal family, so I guess I would be Team Taylor Swift?” she started.
Wait — that sounds like she’s pro T-Swift, right? Not quite: Troian quickly went on to amend her answer, calling the pop superstar’s feminism into question in the process.
“However, I’m so appalled by what I consider to be her false feminism,” continued Troian. “It seems like she’s this person who’s like, “Sisterhood!” and then she does nothing but tear down the women that were once her friends. So is it possible to just be, like… this is a two-party system that I don’t want to be a part of? Can I just say that? Can I say that I would choose the Green Party in this?”
Ouch! That’s gotta’ sting a little bit, mmm?
When it comes to the real deal, however, Troian is definitely a proud member of the Democratic party.
“I was definitely a very big Bernie supporter,” she said. “[But] I was somebody who really thought that it was always going to be Hillary, so when the time came for me to be with her, it wasn’t a difficult switch for me.”
Fair enough, Troian!
