Hollywood's Busiest Multitaskers
In the entertainment business, you have to be ready to jump into action when opportunity knocks. And the people on this list do that better than anyone, sometimes juggling five or six projects at one time. Scroll down to see some of the busiest multitaskers in Hollywood. (Photos via Getty Images)
Reese Witherspoon: In addition to being one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, Witherspoon is also one of the most active producers in the industry. She's working on several projects both in front of and behind the camera, including Legally Blonde 3, a Hulu miniseries adaptation of Little Fires Everywhere (which she's co-producing with Kerry Washington), a much-anticipated Apple TV+ series called The Morning Show (co-starring Jennifer Aniston), and the upcoming second season of Big Little Lies. She also has her own interview show, Shine On With Reese, which kicked off her Hello Sunshine channel on DirecTV last summer, and in September 2018, she published a book, Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits. Nicole Kidman: Like her BLL costar Reese Witherspoon, Kidman is an executive producer on the HBO show. She's also currently producing a TV adaptation of Janice Y.K. Lee's novel The Expatriates for Amazon, as well as a Hulu series based on Liane Moriarty's Nine Perfect Strangers — both of which she's also set to star in. And that's on top of upcoming roles in The Goldfinch, The Undoing, and an untitled Roger Ailes project. (Photo via Christopher Polk/Getty Images for Turner)
Lin-Manuel Miranda: From Broadway to the silver screen, Miranda seems to be everywhere right now. Fresh off his role in Mary Poppins Returns and his recent stint in the Puerto Rican production of Hamilton, he's set to appear in the upcoming miniseries His Dark Materials, debuting on HBO later this year. He's also a producer on the current FX series Fosse/Verdon, and he's working with director Jon Chu on a movie adaptation of his first Broadway musical, In the Heights. When he's not doing that, he's voicing Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera in the new DuckTales reboot, guest-starring as Amy's on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, writing songs for the upcoming live-action Little Mermaid movie, or preparing for his directorial debut on a film version of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick… Boom. And last year, he treated fans to a book of his famous "G'morning/G'night" tweets, as well as a new Hamilton-related music release every month for 12 months. The man is nonstop! Gina Rodriguez: Although Jane the Virgin is ending after its current season, Rodriguez won't be slowing down any time soon. In addition to recent roles in Smallfoot, Miss Bala, and the Netflix movie Someone Great, she voices Carmen Sandiego on Netflix's animated series and is set to play the iconic character in an upcoming live-action film, too. She's also producing a Jane the Virgin spinoff, Jane the Novela, and the upcoming Disney+ series Diary of a Female President. But that's not all: Last year, she partnered with Always and Feeding America to make sure that fewer girls miss school because they don't have access to period products. Brie Larson: Ever since she won an Oscar for 2015's Room, Larson has been in high demand in Hollywood. Her biggest role yet came earlier this year, when she made her debut as Captain Marvel in the first female-led film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (She reprises the role in the just-released Avengers: Endgame.) Coming up, she'll be working alongside Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx in Just Mercy, which tells the true story of Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights defense attorney who fought to free a condemned prisoner on death row. She's also becoming more active behind the scenes: Her directorial debut, Unicorn Store, which costars Samuel L. Jackson, premiered on Netflix in April 2019. Oprah Winfrey: The queen of media seems to get busier every year. Her biggest project right now is her deal with Apple TV+, which includes a mental health series she's developing with Prince Harry, a documentary project about workplace sexual harassment and assault, and an interview show tied to her famous book club. She's also a producer on Ava DuVernay's Central Park Five series, When They See Us, and she's reportedly working with Steven Spielberg on a movie musical version of The Color Purple. And all of this is in addition to her ongoing work with OWN, O, The Oprah Magazine, and the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. (Photo via Rodin Eckenroth/Getty Images)
Rihanna: In late 2018, Rihanna announced that her much-anticipated ninth album would be released in 2019. She also has her cosmetics empire, Fenty Beauty, and she recently launched a lingerie line, Savage x Fenty. Her acting career is continuing to flourish, too: Last year saw her star in the blockbuster crime caper Ocean's 8, and this year, she appeared alongside Donald Glover in the short film Guava Island. Lady Gaga: Gaga is coming off of one of the biggest years of her career — a year that included an Oscar-nominated role in A Star Is Born and multiple awards for the film's lead single, "Shallow," which she co-wrote and performed. Now she's working on her sixth studio album and preparing for the return of her Las Vegas residency show, Lady Gaga: Enigma. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
Kelly Clarkson: Everything's coming up Kelly Clarkson these days. The season 1 American Idol winner is a judge on The Voice, has a self-titled daytime variety talk show in the works at NBC, hosted the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1, voiced Moxy in the new animated movie UglyDolls, and just joined the cast of 2020's Trolls sequel, Trolls World Tour. Kate McKinnon: McKinnon continues to make us laugh every week on Saturday Night Live, but that's not all she's doing these days. She also took over as the new Miss Frizzle for Netflix's The Magic School Bus Rides Again series, and last summer, she starred alongside Mila Kunis in the blockbuster comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me. Coming up, she'll appear in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis' Beatles-themed fantasy movie, Yesterday, and in the Hulu series The Dropout, where she'll play disgraced Silicon Valley health care CEO Elizabeth Holmes. On top of all of that, she and her sister just announced an Audible scripted comedy, Heads Will Roll. (Photo via Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for Hulu)
Jennifer Lopez: Lopez has always been a prolific multitasker. She's constantly working on a million different projects. Currently, her to-do list includes a role in Hustlers (which she's also executive-producing), a new concert tour called It's My Party: The Live Celebration, an HBO film about drug lord Griselda Blanco, a makeup collab with Inglot Cosmetics, a sunglasses line with Quay Australia, and season 3 of World of Dance. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: After voicing Maui in Disney's Moana in 2016 and starring in The Fate of the Furious, Baywatch, Rampage, Skyscraper, and Ballers in 2017 and 2018, Johnson is having another busy year in 2019. He recently appeared in Fighting With My Family, a movie about WWE star Paige, and he has upcoming roles in Jungle Cruise, Hobbs and Shaw (a Fast and Furious spinoff), a Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel, Black Adam, San Andreas 2, Doc Savage, and finally, Big Trouble in Little China. Donald Glover: The Atlanta star has come a long way since his days as Troy Barnes on Community. After playing a young Lando Calrissian in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story, he lent his voice to Simba for Disney's upcoming remake of The Lion King. He also appeared opposite Rihanna in the just-released short film Guava Island, and he headlined Coachella 2019 as his musical alter ego, Childish Gambino, in April. That performance was the culmination of his biggest year as a rapper: His song "This Is America" was one of the most viral hits of 2018, earning four Grammys at the 2019 ceremony, including Song of the Year. Even more recently, though, he teamed up with Adidas on a sneaker collaboration, which he debuted with a series of short films in April. (Photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Diamond Ball)
Mindy Kaling: Kaling's career hasn't slowed down at all since she ended The Mindy Project in 2017. Last year, she starred alongside fellow female powerhouses Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey in A Wrinkle in Time, then joined Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sarah Paulson in Ocean's 8. She also co-created, wrote, produced, and appeared on the short-lived NBC sitcom Champions. Coming up, she'll costar with Emma Thompson in Late Night (which she wrote in her nonexistent spare time). And after that, she'll be busy writing and producing a TV adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral, plus an untitled project for Netflix. (Photo via Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images)
