Hack This Holographic Skull Halloween Makeup in 6 Easy Steps
Halloween is just *five* days away — which is scary in itself, TBH. If you’re still in need of a next-level costume but don’t have the time (or energy) to dedicate to dreaming up your look, you’re in luck. Popular YouTuber Spankie Valentine has a seriously epic Halloween makeup tutorial that’ll make heads turn. Talk about CRAZY COLOR!
This unique take on a spooky classic features an array of neon colors that create much more than just your average painted skull. Follow the step-by-step guide below and watch the in-depth video tutorial to style your own holographic skull.
Step 1: Create the skeleton outline using NYX Wonder Pencil ($4) in a color that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone. Draw in features like sunken eyes and hollow cheekbones — you get the picture.
Step 2: Fill in those features with Mehron Foundation Greasepaint ($12) in white. Use a flat concealer brush to paint it on.
Step 3: Time to add color to this look! Use hues that are similar to NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette ($18) in Brights, NYX Prismatic Shadow ($6) in Mermaid (this is used on the forehead) and NYX Prismatic Shadow ($6) in Venom (this lime green is used around the eyes). Finally, contour with the deep purple shade of NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow ($4) in Ultraviolet.
Step 4: Fill in the eyes with black using ColourPop Liner ($5) in Swerve, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil ($4) in Black Bean and NYX Primal Colors ($5) in Black. The blacker, the better!
Step 5: Create the illusion of teeth with Mehron Foundation Greasepaint ($12) in white and NYX Primal Colors ($5) in Black to outline and shape the teeth.
Step 6: Draw neck vertebrae using NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil ($4) in Milk and Ben Nye Creme Color ($7) in Black for the body and jaw.
And there you have it! Your OTT Holographic skull look is complete! Now go forth and spook.
