4 Tips for Creating a Stylish (and Affordable) Gallery Wall
Looking to create a gallery wall? How about one you can actually afford? Between the frames and prints, the cost of adding one can be pricey, but it doesn’t have to be. Beatrice Fischel-Bock, CEO & Co-Founder of the home decor app Hutch, shared her expert advice on how to create a fabulous yet budget-friendly art wall for your home. Keep scrolling to check out all of her pro tips below.
1. Use all types of art. The most inspiring gallery walls can also be the most random. Fischel-Bock suggests that unless you have a v. specific look in mind (like a black and white ensemble), it’s better to play with multiple mediums. From paintings and photographs to handmade art and graphic prints, there are countless options to work with that’ll keep your budget more flexible.
2. Think complementary, not matchy matchy. While your pieces should look good together, hanging coordinating items isn’t necessary to get a deluxe feel. “An overall color scheme is an easy way to incorporate a variety of different pieces to accomplish an eclectic look,” she says.
3. Invest in personal pieces. Sure you’re all about saving money, but this doesn’t mean a splurge-piece is unwarranted. Fischel-Bock recommends adding an investment item to make the entire arrangement feel more personal, even if the rest of the collage is more decorative. “At the end of the day, you’re the one who will be living with the pieces, so you want to make sure you’re happy with the items displayed in your home,” she says.
4. Placement is everything. A carefully crafted arrangement is key to keeping things looking good. But rather than recruiting a helper and drilling (unnecessary) holes, Fischel-Bock advises using a handy tool like the Hutch app to lay everything out. “You can utilize our curated filters to get inspiration or take a photo of your space to create your custom gallery wall,” she says.
