It’s actually impossible to get through the next six months without a variety of sweaters in your arsenal. And because you'll be wearing one every day for the next, well, forever, you may want to have a few sweater styling ideas in your back pocket. You could pair your favorite knits with jeans and ankle boots and call it a day, but that same old look can feel tired after a while (especially by the time February hits). To keep your sweater game strong this winter, we’re showcasing nine creative ways to style your pullovers, courtesy of some of our favorite street style stars.
Skirt Around: For a cozy yet polished look, pair your oversized sweater with a silk skirt and knee-high boots. Add a long coat and you’re set. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Tuck Away: Try tucking in the front part of your sweater into wider-leg pants for an extremely flattering way to define your waist. Bonus points if you opt for a vibrant knit and unexpected white trousers. (Photo via Christian Vierig)
Double Up: The monochromatic vibe is everywhere right now. If you want to jump on the trend, reach for a sweater like this yellow iteration and add a pair of trousers in a similar hue. To take it one step further, incorporate a jacket in the same color family. (Photo via Matthew Sperzel/Getty)
Black to Black: This is a no-fail outfit you may just want to live in all season long: A black turtleneck, plaid skirt, tall boots, and your trusty parka. (Photo via Jeremy Moeller/Getty)
Dressed Up: For a fashion-forward OOTD, layer an extra-long sweater over your favorite printed dress, and add a belt bag and ankle boots. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Keep It Simple: The beauty of this ensemble is it only features two pieces with the skirt and sweater, but the statement knit (colorful with interesting sleeves) makes the overall feel so impactful. (Photo via Edward Berthelot/Getty)
Wrap Around: If you really want to go for it, take an additional sweater and wrap it around your neck like a scarf over your coat. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Mix It Up: Take your winter style to another dimension by embracing texture with an on-trend snakeskin skirt and multi-printed sweater. Adding a leather jacket would also bring this outfit to the next level. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Two of a Kind: Hey, sometimes two sweaters are better than one (especially when it’s freezing outside). To emulate this getup, layer a cardigan over a coordinating turtleneck, complete with your favorite trousers, flats, and a coat. (Photo via Matthew Sperzel/Getty)
