‘I Feel Pretty’ Could Be One of 2018’s Funniest Feel-Good Movies: Watch the Trailer!
2018 is shaping up to be a fun year on the big screen. In addition to lots of big-budget blockbusters, there are a number of comedies (that just so happen to star some of our favorite women!) set for release as well. I Feel Pretty is one of them, and judging by its first star-studded trailer, it’s set to be a standout of the year.
I Feel Pretty follows Renée (Amy Schumer), an insecure woman who hits her head in a spin-class accident and wakes up seeing herself in a whole new, supermodel-esque light.
Schumer debuted the trailer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she discussed the movie’s themes of confidence and unrealistic societal standards. “She kind of has low self-esteem and she really wants to be pretty and just feel all the parts of life that open up to you when you’re just gorgeous,” Schumer said. Following the spin-class head injury, Renée looks the same as she has always looked, but in her mind, she is “Gisele [Bündchen].”

And the Trainwreck star isn’t the only top-notch talent making this one of the year’s must-sees. Aidy Bryant and Busy Philipps star as Renée’s confused but supportive best friends, Michelle Williams plays her cosmetics-company boss, and Emily Ratajkowski plays an impossibly beautiful woman whose looks Renée admires. (We can already sense the life lessons these two are about to teach each other.)
Philipps’ husband, Marc Silverstein, made the film with his creative partner Abby Kohn, and given their rom-com pedigree of Never Been Kissed, He’s Just Not That Into You, How to Be Single, and more, this is sure to find a place on your comfort rewatch list for years to come.
“It’s a really funny and sweet movie that I think will make us all feel better,” Schumer told DeGeneres. “It made me feel better to play the role.”
I Feel Pretty hits theaters on June 29.
