See Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o With Their Animal Counterparts for Disney’s The Jungle Book
Disney has been riding high in the star castings (like Emma Stone as nasty puppy-thief Cruella de Vil) and celeb collaborations (um, helloooo Kate Spade) lately, and now they have us practically swinging through the trees with excitement with the latest, wildest promo pics from the upcoming remake of the beloved tale of The Jungle Book.
Including key cast members like Lupita Nyong’o staring majesctically into the camera, a wolf, taking on the role of Raksha, nuzzled close beside her. “She is the protector, the eternal mother,” says Lupita. “The word Raksha actually means protection in Hindi. I felt really connected to that, wanting to protect a son that isn’t originally hers but one she’s taken for her own.”
Scarlett Johansson is sleek and sexy lounging against the GIGANTIC snake coiling around her as the hypnotic Kaa. “Kaa seduces and entraps Mowgli with her storytelling,” says Scarlett Johansson. “She’s the mirror into Mowgli’s past. The way she moves is very alluring, almost coquettish.”
Idris Elba… tiger… *breathe* … *fans self*… “Shere Khan reigns with fear,” Idris said of his character. “He terrorizes everyone he encounters because he comes from a place of fear.”
Created with the help of CGI with no need to capture or scare real animals, the result is as humane as it is totally WILD and has us ready to pick up tickets to the Jon Favreau-directed movie hitting screens on April 15.
