This Infographic Will Show You What’s Killing Your Creativity
If your inspiration routine involves scrolling through Tumblr until “inspiration strikes,” well, we can’t say that we haven’t been there ourselves, but there are better ways to get those creative juices flowing. Entrepreneur Magazine put out a very helpful/snazzy infographic to guide you through a more thoughtful, focused path to creative brilliance, and we took some notes.
1. Meditate. You don’t have to have a yoga mat, wake up with the sun or know some special pose to meditate. All you need is a quiet space, whether it’s in your bathroom every morning or in your car on your lunch break. You can even use an app like Calm to help you get some clarity. It’ll guide you through various types of meditation for however much time you have.
2. Learn from your role models. Hate to break it to you, but you can’t be the next Oprah, because there’s only one Oprah. But there’s also only one you. So learn from how your role models succeed and see how that inspiration fits into the way you live your life… you know, instead of trying to live like Oprah. Let’s be real, our house is probably the size of her closet.
3. Stay open and strong. It’s a pretty basic tenet of conversation, but it’s still hard to do. Instead of waiting for your turn to talk, listen to what people have to say and build on it. A productive environment doesn’t mean it’s a “yes man” environment. It’s just one where ideas are fluid and there’s respect among peers.
