With so many photo editing apps out there trying to take you out of Instagram to make your snaps look amazing — hey, VSCO Cam, Darkroom, Priime + Enlight — the photo sharing platform has been busy releasing new features nonstop to keep you solely invested in them. From making discovery easier and releasing five new filters to debuting a video app and a collage app, Instagram has exponentially expanded on its products over the past year. While all of those new features (and more!) most likely satisfy a majority of the ‘gram users, the company has another round of tools to keep you sharpening your shots with ’em.
Those new creative tools, available today for Android devices + later this week for iOS users, deal with adjusting the color and fade of your photography. By combining these newest options with the current roster on Instagram’s editing toolbar, users are able to take their selfies or landscape shots from amateur-looking snaps to pro photos in no time. Those upcoming Coachella pictures are gonna be gorg.
By using the new Fade tool, you can give your shots a more quiet tone by softening the colors of the snap on the sliding bar, making your images feel a little more intimate (or moody).
While the Fade feature promotes softer looking pictures, the Color tool allows users to tint the highlights or shadows in your shots. Add some bonus color — from yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, cyan or green — to your sharable snaps.
The last new feature has nothing to do with editing, but totally has us excited. Users can now turn on post notifications — which Twitter has done for years, FYI — so they’ll get alerted when their favorite accounts, like @britandco, posts a visual update. Now you can guarantee you’re the number one person always commenting “First like!” ;)
