iPhone 7 Looks Like It’s Changing Our Earbuds Forever
Another day, another iPhone 7 photo leak. This week we’ve already glimpsed reported leaks of the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. And now we may have gotten another look at a controversial feature that has been rumored about for months.
The photos, leaked via Weibo, show earbuds that are almost exactly identical to what we’re used to seeing on our iPhones — minus one pretty big detail. Instead of connecting via headphone jack, these headphones will connect via a lightning cable (what you currently stick your charger in). The casing around the cable’s connector also looks thicker and less prone to breaking than what we’ve experienced before.
The whole thing raises a few questions. Mainly: What are you supposed to do if you want to charge your phone and listen to your headphones at the same time? The only answer for this (so far) is buying wireless earbuds and connecting via Bluetooth. And this is also making us wonder if our other devices are going to switch over to the lightning cable. But it’s important to remember to approach this leak with some skepticism. We won’t be entirely sure of our earbuds’ future until their official fall premiere, so stay tuned.
