iPhone Rumor: Leaked Photos of the iPhone 7 Show a Whole New Phone
If less is more, there’s going to be a whole lot more when the iPhone 7 premieres later this year. Yesterday we saw one version of what’s probably coming our way this fall. But, if the latest leaked photos are to be trusted, Apple is making some subtle but BIG changes to the iconic phone and taking away some main features.
Leaked photos of the larger 5.5 inch “iPhone 7 Plus” showed up on Weibo, a Chinese social network. Perhaps most unexpectedly, the mute switch looks like it has been completely taken off of the new phone. The result is a clean-looking side with fewer buttons than before.
The back of the phone also shows some big changes. Like previously leaked photos, these confirm that the camera lens is going to stick out from the rest of the phone — and that its going to feature a dual lens. At the bottom of the phone is a Smart Connector, which could be used for charging or transferring data.
The home button, too, has undergone complete redesign. There’s now a metallic ring around the button that defines it from the rest of the phone. Although it was reported that the new home button would be touch sensitive and completely flush with the rest of the phone, this does not look to be the case.
As for that illusive headphone jack? Even though many have rumored that Apple completely removed the headphone jack on the iPhone 7, these photos don’t yet confirm or deny. We’ll all have to wait a few more months to find out for certain.
