It’s Almost Galentine’s Day — Celebrate Your BFFs
Stop the music! Ditch the dark “anti-Valentine’s” playlist of romance-gone-wrong songs, the black hearts and blacker balloons and the crude cupid putdowns. Why so negs?
Sure, Valentine’s Day is not for everyone. It can be a painful reminder that we are bao-less this year, but that doesn’t make us loveless or friendless. Railing at Valentine’s Day is an insult to the BFF in our life. Rather than put down the holiday, celebrate a different kind of day.
We are so in love with Parks + Recreation’s Galentine’s Day. First introduced by Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope in a 2010 episode of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day.
Who plays Ann to your Leslie? Surprise her (or him) with brunch at your favorite restaurant, including flowers, a crafty gift and dash of bling and pink. As Leslie says: “It’s like Lillith Fair, minus the angst, plus frittatas.” Need ideas for a handmade card? Check out our Galentine’s Printables, featuring Leslie Knope quotes about BFF Ann Perkins. Plaster your chats with P+R emojis. Send your Galentine some P+R swag. Come on, girl, get your love-fest on.
